Nicole Van Wyk

Clinical Psychologist

Change is difficult, but nothing is as difficult as staying stuck somewhere that you do not belong!

Welcome to my site!

I am a clinical psychologist and I work with people who feel "stuck" with their current life patterns and need help in getting unstuck.

Whether it is trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship distress, or grief that has resulted in you feeling stuck, I am here to help you move forward.

I work with children and adults in providing psychotherapy, psychological assessment, or psycho-legal assessment.

Seeking help is a difficult process. What makes it even more difficult is being vulnerable with a stranger. Although this may be a terrifying step, I am here to help you through your process of healing and creating necessary change.

If you would like to know more, please reach out and I will be happy to help you further.

About me

I work with both children and adults in providing either psychotherapy, psychological assessment, and psycho-legal assessment.

I deal with children presenting with behavioural concerns, attachment struggles, mood symptoms, and grief. I involve the family system in interventions with children.

I deal with adults presenting with a range of psychological conditions, such as trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, and relationship distress, to name a few conditions. My approach is tailored to the person's personality and problem. I am skilled in providing CBT (cognitive-behavioural therapy), DBT (dialetical behavioural therapy), and psychodynamic therapy.

I often use your relationship with yourself, as well as the therapy relationship, to gain insight into your patterns, the cause of these patterns, and the triggers.

I have a masters degree in clinical psychology which was obtained from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal.

I have completed a course on medico-legal practice conducted by the South African Medico-legal Association and University of Cape Town.

I have also completed courses in DBT, Time-Limited Dynamic Psychotherapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Substance Abuse Intervention.

I am currently pursuing my PhD in pediatric neuropsychology with the University of Cape Town.

My aim is to help you work through your struggles as efficiently as possible.
